On my computer, if I click on the little clock in the corner it lets me change clock settings, and I have set it to announce the time every quarter hour. This helps me not to loose track of time when computing.
My computer is a Macintosh, I don't know what kind you have. If it doesn't have that ability built in, perhaps you could find some freeware, like KSOL 1460 suggested. I really like the reminders of what time it is, more than I would like a single alarm.
