If it helps I thought I should add, my mother is honestly a very intelligent woman who I trust deeply and implicity in many things, and she gave me the advice once, that no one is ever too old for an imaginary friend. That just because you are no longer a child does not mean you can no longer have one or more even, and just because they come from you does not mean in some way they are real. I can understand that in the viewpoint parallel where we create our own gods to a degree, however I myself really do feel that Haldir is just another person with his own issues and hates and loves and losses.
