Hey, everyone...

From the user info page I thought I'd announce my presence here as a psych student, but I'm not interested in you people as guinea pigs... I have a seriously unorthodox fetish for the "crazies"... schizofrenia, multiples, furries, gender dysphoria... the people who don't belong, who feel out of place in their own skin, who are too much for themselves.

I wish I could live a thousand different lives sometimes, be the virgin and the whore and the child and the adult, the man and the woman. Being bisexual definitely raised some questions in my mind about whether or not I really wanted this female body of mine.

EDIT: I don't fetishize any of you, I have a tendency to use words offhand, I don't think about any of you or your friends naked in the shower to get my rocks off, I'm young, I'm dumb, I talk a lot, I would never in a million years dare to compare any of you to furries, or try to pretend any of you are anything like me, because that would be damn insulting, etc.

I'm half afraid to ask questions here because I'm worried people will mistake my curiosity for... professional curiosity, I guess. Like I'm interrogating you. I don't like feeling ignorant... but the overwhelming fact is that I don't get it because I am not living it.

If you have questions, you might find them answered in some of the FAQs linked off the userinfo page, or on some of community members' personal pages.

The questions I want answered are personal and unique to each individual personality... not things that can be easily answered by informative websites. Though I did go to some. Ehhh... I am reminded of when I first started to get involved in the LGBTQ community... and had so much to learn. There I felt like less of an outsider because I'm bisexual, and here it's completely foreign.

I love that word. Foreign. How gorgeous is that?

I don't mind questions. However I can't guarantee that my answers will be true for anyone other than Pthalo (me). Of course it does rather depend on the question. But not a poster-child etc. :)

Why don't you go ahead and ask individuals via email? If the answers aren't of too personal a nature, they might be shared in this community as well. Questions by curious but courteous singlets often engender good discussions and bring out concepts that might not have been shared otherwise.

I'd like to thank you for your candid intro. Permit me to be candid as well. I think that in your self-description of having a "fetish for the crazies," you are actually referring to being interested in and wanting to understand people whom society has labelled as insane or "too different", &c., and that you have always seriously questioned the boundaries of so-called normality. As a psych student, you will soon learn that fetish has a specific meaning, which you clearly did not intend.

Most people who question normality have a reason for doing so, and if it does not lie in themselves it usually originates with a friend or family member who has been degraded for being different.

Colloquially I understand it, but it's inaccurate in the sense that it connotes a thought disorder, and multiplicity (even MPD or DID) is not a thought disorder.

In psychiatry, thought disorder or formal thought disorder is a term used to describe a symptom of psychotic mental illness.

mercuryisme's use of the word "crazy" is inaccurate and indeed pejorative applied to multiples, since the world-at-large interprets the word "crazy" to mean a thought disorder. At any rate, she's making an attempt at self-correction, which is commendable.

No, it's not like that. Accusations like that have been made before, of using groups like this to raise their self esteem- "At least I'm not completely fucked up like those people in multiplicity..."

Yes, that's partly why I chose the word "Fetish" to describe my feelings towards this. I'm also just a really sexual person and I like words like that. My sexuality can be stimulated physically or mentally, and this forum is definitely a turn-on for my brain.

I know what real fetishes are. I'm well acquainted with them.

Candid is also a really good word, it reminds me of green eyed people. My favorite word, though, my very very favorite- catalyst.
